Luzerne County – This is where you’ll find it all…

When you plan a visit to Luzerne County in scenic Northeast Pennsylvania, in the foothills of Pocono Mountain, you can opt for a short getaway or maybe even stay a little longer and explore the phenomenal region!

The vastness of Luzerne our County will allow you to enjoy the magnificent countryside as well as all sorts of the fun in the area’s interesting of Pittston, Hazleton, and, of course, Wilkes-Barre. There are also quite a few fine small towns where always something is going on!

Anf of course… the fantastic outdoors. You can go skying at Montage Mountain or hike the pretty Rickets Glen State Park falls. Many visitors come here to enjoy the bike rides along the River Commons and marvel at scenic views along the winding Susquehanna River.

The “Official Best of Pennsylvania” website has, again, listed Luzerne County as Pennsylvania’s best Outdoors Destination. The website’s expert researchers examined state tourism information, CVB resources, numerous travel websites, and several other sources to decide on a region’s or an attraction’s reputation. Luzerne County’s selection will be aired on The Travel Channel and on KYW/CBS3 Philadelphia. Among Luzerne County’s finest outdoors venues are kayaking on the Susquehanna River, Ricketts Glen State Park, the Falls Trail (the best hike in Pennsylvania!), fishing on Francis Slocum Lake and Lake Jean, mountain bike riding at Moon Lake, and the River Common, site of Luzerne’s RiverFest.

Luzerne County Community College is a public 2-year college that offers certificate, associate degree, and diploma programs. The school was established in 1966 and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools (Commission on Higher Education) in Philadelphia.

The school’s main campus is located on 167 acres and comes with 15 buildings that include 8 instructional facilities and classrooms, an administration building, a library, a campus center, a conference center, and a security & printing services facility. The school also has education centers in Berwick, Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre, Northumberland, and Kulpmont.
